Artist Statement

My work's core is a deep love for traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. I've always been drawn to the quiet resilience of old Russian Orthodox churches—places created with devotion, now standing in solitude, abandoned and taken back by nature. These churches were meant to reflect Heaven on Earth, their domes stretching toward something greater, yet time has left them cracked and forgotten. Still, they remain weathered but dignified, holding onto the stories of those who built them and those who once gathered within their walls. Their beauty isn't just in their architecture but in their ability to endure, even as they fade. In my work, I try to capture that sense of quiet strength, honoring the past while creating something new.

I am fascinated by the contrast between the sacred and the abandoned—how a space meant for worship and community can be left to decay yet never truly lose its purpose. There's something deeply moving about how these structures persist, softened by time yet never fully erased. I want my work to reflect that feeling—embody permanence, impermanence, function, and stillness. Through form and texture, I create pieces that carry a sense of history while existing in the present, bridging the old and the new. I hope my work invites contemplation, offering a quiet presence in someone's home, much like those churches still hold their presence in the landscape. More than anything, I want to create something meaningful—not just for others, but for myself, to create meaning in my life.
